I haven’t been able to sleep since watching Entourage on Sunday. I sent the following email to the show’s creators.

For a show that prides itself on realistic portrayal of Tinseltown, someone sure missed obvious mistakes in last week’s episode 39: Return of the King.

Mistake #1: The Track
Vince and the boys were at Del Mar Race Track in San Diego. Ari was at Temple on Yom Kippur.

As everyone knows, the Del Mar meet runs from mid-July through Labor Day. Yom Kippur usually falls in late September or early October.

On Yom Kippur, the Southern California racing circuit would have been running at Fairplex or the Oak Tree Meet at Santa Anita.

Mistake #2: The Race
The race shows the horses rounding the clubhouse turn on the dirt, racing on the turf course down the backstretch, and finishing on the dirt.

King Maker may have won a race at Belmont, but I doubt he sires horses bred to switch racing surfaces at the three-quarter pole.

Mistake #3: The Finish
As the horses approached the finish line, track announcer Trevor Denman calls out their horse, King’s Ransom, as closing on the outside. The #1, who for some reason is wearing a white saddlecloth, is outside of the #12. The next second, #1 is on the inside of #7, and #12 has disappeared. The finish was shown from a distance, but neither horse could be seen.

All of this is irrelevant of course because Entourage is one of the best shows on television. I’ll continue to watch, and dream of moving to California with a few buddies in tow.

If you ever film at the track again, or Drama has a scene where he gets drunk and wets the bed, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Benny
